Carson completes £3.25m move to West Brom

West Brom have completed the £3.25million signing of England international Scott Carson from Liverpool.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who played in 35 Premier League games for Aston Villa last season, has put pen to paper on a four-year-deal.

The club also have the option of adding another year to the deal.

"I'm delighted everything is signed, sealed and delivered," said Carson, whose first-team chances at Anfield were limited.

"It's great to be part of the club," he told the club's official website.

"Having spoken to the manager, and seen the way he's going, I think there's going to be a good future here.

"Everyone I spoke to about West Brom last year said they were the best footballing side in the Championship and deserved to get back into the Premier League.

"Obviously it's a big step into the Premier League but I'm confident, having spoken to the manager and seen the players that are at the club, we can have a good season."

He added: "It's a big weight off my mind knowing that I'm going to be at a club for the next four or five years and maybe even longer.

"It's not easy going to a club for just one season.

"By the time you settle in, it's time to leave.

"Hopefully I can get settled here really quickly, get back to playing football, get a good run in the team and find some consistency in my game.

"I've got two full seasons of Premier League games under my belt and I know what it's about.

"It's going to be difficult but now it's about taking those last two seasons and using them to my advantage to hopefully push on."

Carson also revealed why he chose to move to the Baggies ahead of fellow Premier League newcomers Stoke.

"Stoke was my other main option," he added.

"I had a look around there as well.

"I'd like to thank them for their interest but my gut feeling was here would be the best place for me.

"It wasn't just an overnight decision though.

"It took me three or four days to make my mind up and I spoke to lots and lots of people about both clubs.

"In the end it came down to me seeing myself being at West Brom for a long time."
