'Chicharito' may be headed to Chelsea, Diego Simeone could replace Mourinho
TOP STORY: Chelsea chasing Chicharito?
Chelsea haven't had much luck this season with former Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao, but that doesn't appear to be stopping them trying to seek out another ex-Old Trafford forward in Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. The Mirror reports that the Premier League champions want a "proven goal-scorer" given Falcao's woes and Diego Costa's struggles to hit the heights of last season, and having lost seven of their 12 league games this term, they are considering a move for Mexico international Chicharito in January.
The 27-year-old would reportedly fetch Bayer Leverkusen a fee of £8.5 million, and with 12 goals in 19 games for club and country this season, Chicharito's infectious smile might be just what Jose Mourinho -- or whoever the Chelsea coach is in January -- needs to kick-start a desperately disappointing title defence.
Speaking of Mourinho, the Mirror reports that Chelsea are on alert with Diego Simeone reportedly set to activate a break clause in his Atletico Madrid contract at the end of the season. A potential interim boss for the Blues until then, we hear you ask? Brendan Rodgers. You can't say it wouldn't be entertaining.
