West Bromwich Albion have now offiicially signed Borja Valero from Real Mallorca for a club record £4.7 million.
Tony Mowbray’s side have been chasing the midfielder over recent weeks and has now confirmed the deal has finally gone through and that the 23-year old has signed a three year deal at the Hawthorns.
"I'm delighted to welcome Borja to the club," Mowbray trumpeted on the club's official website.
"From a footballing point of view he possesses many of the attributes I like in a player.
"Borja can link up the play from back to front and he will enhance the excellent midfield options we already possess."
The deal means Valero is West Brom’s new record signing, smashing the £3.5 million they paid Cardiff City for Robert Earnshaw in 2004.
Valero initially came through the ranks at Real Madrid before moving to Mallorca in last year. However, he revealed his desire to leave the Spanish club over the summer and impressed the Baggies in a pre-season friendly.
