Chelsea have announced that Andriy Shevchenko has re-joined Milan, ending months of speculation in the process.
Milan and Sheva have finally got what they both wanted as the player returns to his old hunting ground. Chelsea have announced the player will move back to San Siro subject to a successful medical.
One of the longest running transfer saga's has finally come to an end. The Ukrainian was favourite to go back to the Rossoneri before Chelsea scuppered the deal.
However, the English club have announced they have agreed to allow the hit-man rejoin his old side.
A statement on the club's official website reads:
"Shevchenko returns to Milan.
"Chelsea FC have agreed terms for Andriy Shevchenko to return to AC Milan. Details of the agreement will remain confidential.
"The move is subject to a successful medical."
Milan also confirmed the player's return.
"AC Milan announce that the club have agreed with Chelsea for the return of Shevchenko," read a statement on the Rossoneri's official website.
Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has always kept the door open for Sheva and the club have never given up hope on his return. It is not yet known whether the player is back on loan or permanently.
Reports in Italy claim that Chelsea didn't want a loan deal to go through but it remains to be seen as to which option both parties agreed on.
Sheva has never really managed to make it in England and his return to Serie A is likely to delight Rossoneri tifosi.
The striker is expected to fly out to Milan this evening and he will undergo a medical on Monday morning where he will be unveiled.
