BOLTON Wanderers have completed the signing of defender Danny Shittu from Watford in a £2million deal.
Trotters sign Shittu
Bolton Wanderers have confirmed the capture of Nigerian international Danny Shittu from Watford.
Giant Nigerian stopper Danny Shittu has completed his move from Watford to Bolton today, for a fee of around £2m.
Shittu underwent a medical last night and has now flown to Greece to meet up with the squad, becoming the Trotters' fourth signing of the summer. Johan Elmander, Riga Mustapha and Fabrice Muamba have already checked in.
Bolton's official website states: "In joining Bolton Wanderers from Watford, Shittu has signed an inital three year deal for an undisclosed fee.
"The 27-year-old defender started his career at Charlton Athletic with loan spells at Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers before making a permanent move to Lofus Road in 2002.
In 2006 he was signed by Watford and made over 60 appearances for the Southern side in two seasons."
Shittu looked set for SPL side Rangers, but negotiations broke down at a late stage. Several Championship clubs were reportedly tracking the player, but the man mountain will be pleased to have signed for a top-tier club who so desperately need defensive cover.
