The northerners were desperate to sign a new right back after selling Gianni Zuiverloon to West Bromwich Albion.
Janmaat is a product of the Feyenoord youth academy, but made his professional debut for newly promoted ADO Den Haag. Overall the nineteen year old made 25 appearances for Den Haag, scoring two goals.
The youngster had a contract with the Residentieclub until 2010 and they were reluctant to let him go. However, Janmaat expressed his desire to move on and the Den Haag team decided to cash in on the player.
