Gareth Barry felt the full wrath of the Aston Villa fans during his first game since making public his desire to upgrade clubs.
The England international was booed relentlessly by the estimated 3'000 Villa fans at hand in the away section at Walsall, during a pre-season match that ended 3-2 in favour of the Premiership side.
Not surprisingly, supporters of the Villans are none too pleased that their once so idolised skipper remains intent on completing his dream switch to Liverpool, despite the club’s best efforts to convince him that together they can become a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.
With Liverpool seemingly not prepared to meet ₤18million price tag, the Villans have even attempted to patch up relations with Barry, offering to forgive and forget regarding all the recent hubbub between the two parties over the last month or so.
But the wantaway skipper has essentially snapped that olive branch over his knee, as O’Neill revealed in The Sun: “We had a meeting and he reiterated that he would like to go to Liverpool.”
As far as matters on the field yesterday, Shaun Maloney did his chances of claiming a starting berth for the Intertoto Cup match this weekend with a second-half brace against the League One Side, while Wayne Routledge also showed that he is up for it with a wonderful late winner to complete the come-from-behind victory.

Barry hasn't handled all this too well. hardly a surprise the Villans aren't too pleased, is it! Plus I'm not too sure why Liverpool want to buy anyway.
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with Alonso?
Benitez should put the £18m towards a top striker.
