Official: Monaco Sign Simic

Monaco have completed the signing of Milan defender Dario Simic, the Italian giants have confirmed. This move is now likely to result in the Rossoneri tying up a deal for Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic.

Simic joined Milan in 2002 from local-rivals Inter but has been mainly a bit-part player during his time at the Rossoneri.

The 32-year-old has been expected to move on to pastures new, every summer for the last three or four years, but he has always ended up staying put.

However, now Simic has finally left the San Siro outfit, and after detailed negotiations, Milan have issued a press release in which they confirm that they have sold the centre back to French outfit Monaco.

Simic, who has played a record 99 times for his country, will travel to the Principality tomorrow to undertake a routine medical.

This sale will now almost certainly see Milan sign a replacement centre half, and the latest reports in Italy suggest that this player will be Chelsea outcast Branislav Ivanovic.

The 24-year-old is expected to join on a one-year loan deal, and it is even being speculated that the transfer could be completed by midnight tonight.
