Official: Campo Completes Ipswich Move

Former Real Madrid stalwart Ivan Campo has completed his move from Bolton Wanderers to Ipswich Town, signing a two-year contract...

The 34-year-old, who plays with equal distinction in defence or midfield, has been likely to leave the Reebok Stadium in recent weeks, with Ipswich recently emerging as firm favourites to land his signature.

The iconic battler was part of the Champions League winning side in 2000 and the La Liga triumph of 2001 before moving to the Reebok Stadium at first on loan, then surprisingly in a permanent deal, with Real legend Fernando Hierro also making the move.

He spent five seasons with the Trotters where he became a fan favourite, but today passed his medical at Ipswich and will start this season in the Championship, following a less than memorable end to his time in the north-west and an unsavoury relationship with manager Gary Megson.

"Ivan Campo joined Ipswich Town on a two year contract after completing a medical at Portman Road," read a statement on the club's official website.

Manager Jim Magilton could not hide his delight following the signing: "Ivan has a wealth of experience having played at the highest level for many years and he can be a great asset for us.

"The young players at this club will really benefit from having him around the place."
