Inter ready to offer Chelsea Adriano in bid to land Lampard

In the latest development in the Frank Lampard saga, Inter Milan’s president has reportedly offered €15m and Brazilian striker Adriano for the Chelsea midfielder.

Earlier today, Inter president Massimo Moratti stated that the club had offered all they could for Frank Lampard and that the ball was now in the player’s court. But according to reports out of Brazil, Inter’s chief has now offered Chelsea €15m plus Brazilian striker Adriano in exchange for Lampard.

Brazilian daily O Globo writes that the offer was passed on to Abramovich’s club through Steve Kutner, Lampard’s agent. The newspaper also revealed that Luiz Felipe Scolari met this latest proposal with enthusiasm.

The 26-year-old Adriano, once referred to as ‘The Emperor’, moved to São Paulo earlier this year on loan, having shown poor form under Roberto Mancini.

Inter’s new boss José Mourinho has had kind words for the Brazilian striker since his arrival in Milan, but it seems the club are willing to sacrifice him to land Lampard, who remains their prime target.

Just a few days ago, Inter completed their first transaction of the summer by signing another Brazilian, Amantino Mancini from Roma.

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea exit appears to be growing ever nearer after Internazionale director Gabriele Oriali claimed the England midfielder wants to join them.

Inter Chief: Lampard Wants To Leave

Internazionale director Gabriele Oriali has revealed that Chelsea icon Frank Lampard wants to leave the club to join the Nerazzurri this summer...

The transfer saga has yet to relent as the midfielder cannot agree terms for a new contract with the club, wanting one more year than they are willing to offer.

Inter, now managed by ex Blues boss Jose Mourinho, are attempting to land the England international and despite the club's claims that they will refuse all offers, the former West Ham United man may well have the power to buy himself out of his contract, though leaving it this late will have ramifications including a fine and possible brief suspension.

Oriali has been the latest of several Inter officials to speak on the issue, insisting that the club will not attempt to force the Blues to sell the highest scoring midfielder in their history.

He told Mediaset TV: "We have done everything that was in our means. We cannot, certainly, take him away from Chelsea by force.

"What is certain right now is that the player wants strongly to come to Inter."

Dennis Bergkamp: Inter Milan stay was hell, Dennis Bergkamp admits his time at Inter Milan was the worst period in his career.

Bergkamp Warns Lampard About Inter

With Frank Lampard possibly on his way to Inter Milan, former Arsenal star Dennis Bergkamp has told the Sunday Mirror of his nightmare spell at the San Siro.

The Dutch forward spent two years at Inter before moving to Arsenal in 1995. Despite being signed from Ajax for £12 million, Bergkamp couldn’t find his best form in Italy and managed only 11 goals in 50 appearances for the club.

Speaking in the Sunday Mirror, Bergkamp confessed he had been much happier in England than in Italy. He said: “Once you play in the Premier League you realise there is nothing better. It is difficult to see the beauty of the Italian League.”

The former Gunner also went on to explain why he had struggled to adapt to life in Serie A. Bergkamp admitted: “Knowing you can hardly ever play real attacking football makes you desperate when you have been brought up with a different work ethic.”

Although Bergkamp possesses a UEFA Cup winners’ medal from his time at Inter it is clear that he does not look back on his time there fondly. He said: “The problem for an attack-minded player in Italy is that you can never play your own game.”

Bergkamp’s words are likely to interest Lampard who is the subject of much speculation over a proposed move to Inter. The Milanese club have reportedly already made a bid for the Chelsea star who looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

However, Bergkamp also went on to discuss Italian football further, and spoke of how he felt it was all about the result rather than the style of play.

“Their fans are happy with a draw. Some times they consider a draw like a win. It is all about the result,” said Bergkamp before adding, “I care about the results, too. But great players also care about the style of play.”

Bergkamp also revealed the media interest in Milan was heavy which Lampard may want to bear in mind should he decide to swap London for Milan. Bergkamp concluded: “There were also intrusions into my private life I did not like.”
