Southampton left-back Luke Shaw looks certain to secure a move to Manchester United over the forthcoming weeks after reports revealed that the Red Devils are the only club to have made an offer for the England international.

Chelsea, despite their reported interest, have yet to make a bid for the 18-year-old.

The Sunday World have exclusively revealed that sources close to Southampton fully expect Shaw to become a Manchester United player by the end of the summer transfer window on September 2.

And unless Chelsea submit a bid which matches or betters the £27m package United have put together, the teenager will complete his move to Old Trafford.

It was reported earlier this week that Chelsea are plotting to hijack United's deal to sign Shaw after releasing their long-serving full-back Ashley Cole. Blues' boss Jose Mourinho may also decide to get rid of two other left-backs in his squad: Ryan Bertand and Patrick van Aanholt.

That would leave Chelsea with one player in their ranks capable of playing at left-back: Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta, who played most of this season in that position after displacing Cole but is, in fact, a right-back by trade.

Shaw, who is part of England's 23-man squad for the World Cup finals in Brazil, may not complete his move to United until next month at the earliest. However, the Sunday World insist that all those involved in the deal are convinced he will end up at Old Trafford rather than Stamford Bridge, even though the Red Devils recently renewed the contract of Patrice Evra for another year.
