Asean All-Stars to take on Philippines in Typhoon Haiyan charity match

A one-off charity friendly between the region's best talents and the national team of Philippines has been proposed by the AFF

The Asean Football Federation (AFF) Council, who met on Saturday at Naypyiday, Myanmar for their annual meeting, have agreed on a charity friendly match to aid the victims of Typhoon Haiyan by raising funds.

The proposed friendly will likely feature an Asean All-Stars side taking on the Azkals in Bacolod, Philippines. A date for the match has yet to be confirmed.

The line-up for the All-Stars has not been announced, although it is believed that it will feature the Best XI that will be chosen at the annual AFF Awards in early 2014.

The Singapore U23 side previously took on their Philippines counterparts in a charity cum preparatory match for the SEA Games. The Young Lions ran out 6-0 victors in the match played at Hougang Stadium in early December.

Following the devastation caused by Typhoon Bopha in 2012, the AFF provided assistance to the Philippines by covering the costs of construction for four elementary schools in the areas of Laak and Montevista.
