Indonesia and Australia drew 0-0 on Wednesday night in Jakarta in their qualifier for the 2011 Asian Cup.

The hosts had the better of the play against an inexperienced visiting team but couldn’t get the ball in the net and now have two points from two matches.

For Australia it is a welcome point in their opening match.

Talahou Musafri should have perhaps done better ten minutes before the break but shot wide from a good position.

On-form Budi Sadarsono also had a good chance to break the deadlock just on the hour but his header failed to trouble Socceroo shotstopper Eugene Galekovic.

Australia looked more solid at the back than dangerous in attack though Archie Thompson and Paul Reid has a couple of long-range efforts that went close.

Matt Simon actually had the ball in the net only for it to be ruled offside.

In the other match of the group, Oman went top with a 1-0 win over Kuwait.

Hassen Rabea scored the only goal of the match just after the hour.
