Mbia Strike Sends Honduras Out

Cameroon 1-0 Honduras

A solitary Stephane Mbia strike was enough for Cameroon to overcome a blunt Honduran challenge in Group D at the Olympic Games.

Mbia struck the game's only goal with 15 minutes to play, to which Honduras had no reply.

From a distance of 20 yards, the Rennes midfielder unleashed a low drive that crept just inside Kevin Hernandez’s post.

The 2000 Olympic champions had a number of opportunities to add to their one-goal tally, with Christian Bekamenga being particularly culpable of squandering a golden opportunity.

The win takes Cameroon to four points after their opening day 1-1 draw with South Korea. After this second successive defeat, Honduras are already eliminated from this year's Olympic competition.
