Hughes' Crisis Talks

One of the reasons Mark Hughes may have left Blackburn Rovers to join Manchester City could have been the prospect of added funds to propel the club further up the table, The Mirror is now reporting that Thaksin Shinawatra's finances may not be as concrete as they first seemed...

Vedran Corluka's stock has risen considerably since his £9million move to Eastlands, since then he has been a consistent performer in England's top flight, and has further established himself on the international stage.

With Tottenham Hotspurs' sale of Pascal Chimbonda to Sunderland, cover - or indeed competition - for recent recruit Alan Hutton will be deemed a necessity by new boss Juande Ramos.

The Croatian right-back is on the verge of swapping Manchester for London, or so claim The Mirror. Hughes however, will feel particularly disgruntled as the deal appears to have gone on behind his back. It has been reported that City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has run into monetary problems in his native Thailand, and Corluka is being sacrificed, for £5million (a £4million loss in one year), so that these financial issues are eased.

Shinawatra may claim that the sale of Corluka will not interrupt the defence too much, as both Micah Richards, and new signing Tal Ben Haim are able to fill in on the right hand side.
