AEK Sign Juanfran
AEK Athens have completed the signing of Spanish international Juanfran from Real Zaragoza, after the left-back signed a two-year deal with the Greek giants.
A statement on www.aekfc.gr read: “Juan Francisco Garcia Garcia today signed a two-year contract with the club. After he signed, the 32 year-old Spanish defender stated:
'My first impressions are extremely good; we have a manager who likes to play football, who really likes to play a passing game and my first impression from the team is positive. I am motivated by the fact that the team want me to become part of them, I want to win titles because AEK has a lot of years left in which it can win and I am here to win at least one title.'”
The Spaniard is believed to have signed a deal worth around €700,000-per-year with the Greek club. He has represented Spain 11 times during his career and has previously played for Levante, Valencia, Celta Vigo, Besiktas and Ajax Amsterdam.
The defender had been training with AEK until he officially signed with the club and was included in the starting line-up for their most recent friendly match against Turkish side Bursaspor.
Giorgos Donis’ side emerged victorious thanks to a converted penalty by captain Rivaldo in the 57th minute.
AEK Line-up: Saja, Geraldo (Alexopoulos 52’), Nsawila (Taxtsidis 46’), Koutroumanos (Georgeas 77’), Papastathopoulos, Blanco (Pavlis 77’), Burns (Zorbas 60’), Kone (Gentzoglou 77’), Pliatsikas (Lagos 46’), Scocco (Rivaldo 46’), Juanfran (Perez 56’)
