PODOLSKI TO STAY AT BAYERN
Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski has guaranteed that he wants to stay at Allianz Arena and play under Jürgen Klinsmann.
The Germany international, who has been tipped for a summer transfer, said earlier in the summer that he wanted to return to FC Köln after a season in which he was given very few chances to shine.
But Podolski, who impressed at Euro 2008, has now pledged his future to the club after talks with the new coach, Jürgen Klinsmann.
"I spoke to Klinsmann and I am totally concentrated on the next season," he said.
However, he added that the quest was now on to cement his status as a first team player, rather than a substitute.
"No one can be happy with what I went through last season because I did not play much. Therefore, my goal is now not to be on the bench," he concluded.
Podolski faces strong competition from Luca Toni and compatriot Miroslav Klose for a starting role at Allianz Arena next term.
