Galatasaray Sign De Sanctis on Loan

Turkish giants Galatasaray have snapped up Italian goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis on a season-long loan from Sevilla.

De Sanctis only joined Sevilla last summer when he executed a FIFA transfer clause to release himself from his contract at Udinese.

However, in Andalusia he has been unable to play regularly due to the presence of the outstanding Andres Palop.

Eager for first team football, De Sanctis has had his eye on a transfer, and following negotiations with Galatasaray, the 31-year-old has agreed to move to the Istanbul-based club on one-year loan. Galatasaray will pay Sevilla €500,00 in compensation.

De Sanctis began his career with Pescara, and impressed so much that he earned a move to Juventus in 1997. There he was blocked by then Italy No.1 Angelo Peruzzi, and he moved on to Udinese in 1999 where he really made his name as one of Italy’s top goalkeepers.

De Sanctis has won two caps for the Italy national team, and he travelled to Euro 2008 as the Azzurri’s third choice goalkeeper.
