Malaysia Not Playing Defensive Game Against Chelsea
The Malaysian Selection will not play a defensive game when they meet Chelsea at the Shah Alam Stadium, Tuesday.
"There is no point playing a defensive game against a cohesive team who boast many skilful individuals.
"I expect our players to keep the ball in their possession and not to lose them easily," Malaysia's national coach B. Sathiananthan told reporters after putting the Malaysian Selection players through their paces at the stadium, here Monday.
He expected senior players like Hairuddin Omar and Nizaruddin Yusof to play a pivotal role as they had gained exposure playing with European clubs.
Sathiananthan said he expected both the senior and junior players to prove their mettle as he would be selecting the probable Malaysian squad for the Asean Football Federation (AFF) championship from the match.
"Although the tournament is five months away, they have to work hard from now," he said.
Chelsea, who are on their eight-day Asian tour, defeated Guangzhou 4-0 and Chengdu Blades 7-0 before coming to Malaysia.
