Chelsea have agreed to depart with Dutch defender Boulahrouz, after reports emerged yesterday that the 26-year old was Stuttgart-bound.
Despite establishing himself as a reliable defender at Hamburg, and also on the international stage with Netherlands, Khalid Boularouz was frozen out of affairs at Chelsea. After spending last season on loan at Primera Liga outfit Sevilla, the versatile defender will now be plying his trade in the Bundesliga next term.
A statement issed on Chelsea's official club website read: "Chelsea Football Club has agreed a fee for the transfer of Khalid Boulahrouz to VfB Stuttgart. We would like to thank Khalid for his contribution while he was at Chelsea and we wish him luck at his new club."
The fee received for Boulahrouz is so far unclear, although reports yesterday suggested that it may be in the region of £3million, roughly £5million less than what the Stamford Bridge side originally paid for the man nicknamed 'Cannibal', in 2006.
Boulahrouz showed in Euro 2008 the same form that earned him his nickname after some animalistic displays. So far he has 23 Dutch caps to his name.
