Iranian star Ali Karimi has signed a two-year contract with Al Siliya of Qatar on Sunday.
It has been expected that the 2004 Asian Player of the Year would leave Qatar Sports Club.
In recent weeks the former Bayern Munich star has been linked with Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia and Iranian champions Persepolis.
According to his agent, Karimi has penned a deal with the club worth 4.7 million euros. Abolfazl Jalali also said that Karimi will play for Al Siliya following his departure from Qatar SC.
Karimi was thrown off the Iran national team earlier this year after making critical comments of the Iranian Football Federation.
It was then reported he had been reinstated to the team but the 29 year-old claims that this is not yet the case.
Al Siliya finished two places above last in the 2007-08 season.
