NO QATAR Stevie snubs £18m Gulf offer ... for USA

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard told reporters he has his eyes on a move to the United States.

According to the latest reports, Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard has turned down an incredible offer from Qatar worth £18 million in favour of a move to the United States.

The former England international skipper confirmed to reporters that this season will be his last with the Reds after a 19-year affiliation with the club.

Gerrard is rightly known as a legend on Merseyside and his decision to call it a day prompted a host of players, teammates and former stars across Europe to dish out widespread acclaim.

Determined not to follow in the footsteps of Frank Lampard and play for a direct rival, it seems that the United States and the progressing MLS will become Gerrard’s new home.

However, in spite of his admission of wanting to head across the Atlantic that has not prevented strong interest from arriving elsewhere and notably from football’s new money zone.

In a report by The Sun, it is claimed the 34-year-old midfielder has turned down a  money-spinning offer from Qatar.

“Steven Gerrard has turned down an £18million offer to play in Qatar. Mega-rich Al Gharafa, based in the Qatari capital Doha, hoped to tempt him with a two-year deal worth more than £170,000 a week,” the report claims.

While Gerrard’s future destination is not yet determined, it appears MLS outfit LA Galaxy are the most likely to catch the player’s attentions.

The Californian-based side won the MLS Cup last year and in Robbie Keane the Reds skipper has a familiar face which could help him settle.

What do you make of Steven Gerrard's alleged Qatar offer?
