Benzema 'dreams' of Real Madrid

France and Lyon forward Karim Benzema has revealed he has vowed to play for La Liga giants Real Madrid one day.

Benzema continues to be linked with a move away from Lyon, despite putting pen to paper on a new big-money contract set to keep him at Les Gones until 2013 in March.

The prodigious French forward is one of the hottest properties on the global stage after netting over 40 goals for club and country over the past two seasons.

Real Madrid are the club most often mentioned in connection with the 20-year-old and Benzema believes he will secure himself a move to the Bernabeu before long.

"My dream is to play for Real Madrid," he told Le Buteur. "It's an aim that bit by bit is growing closer.

"I like Real's white shirt, the stadium, the atmosphere which reigns around there...

"I told my mother that one day, I will play for Real and I want that to come true."

Despite recently signing Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Madrid are desperate for another striker with Ruud van Nistelrooy ruled out for the rest of the season.

However, Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas claimed last month that a club "would have to pay over 100million euros" for Benzema.
