Sergio García Joins Betis

Former Barcelona forward and Sergio García (25), who was earlier this summer rumoured to be on Barcelona's target list (read more here), has yesterday been officially presented as new player of Spanish first division club Betis Sevilla, where the striker signed a five-year contract.

Ex-Barça: Sergio Garcia to Betis

Real Betis have confirmed the eleventh-hour capture of forward Sergio García from Segunda División side, Real Zaragoza.

Real Betis’ official radio station have announced that the club have successfully secured the signature of Sergio García as Los Verdiblancos look to compensate for the departure of Rafael Sóbis with the arrival of the highly sought after forward.

Betis sporting director, Manolo Momparlet revealed they had received a fax just a few hours before the transfer deadline, confirming that their bid of “over €10 million” has been accepted by Real Zaragoza.

The 25 year old will arrive in Seville on Tuesday to undergo his medical before signing the contract, followed by the media presentation.

The European champion has been tracked by several big clubs throughout the summer and it is believed that he rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspurs in order to remain in Spain, despite being offered a much bigger wage packet by the Premiership side.
