Samp Defeat Saudi Arabia

Sampdoria collected a 2-0 victory over the Saudi Arabian national side...

The friendly match was played in Nyon, Switzerland as a final test before Walter Mazzarri's team begin the Serie A season.

The Blucerchiati gave a good account of themselves and opened the scoring on 29 minutes. Milan youth product Paolo Sammarco finished off the rebound after Antonio Cassano's shot was saved by the Saudi goalkeeper.

Sampdoria were in control for long spells, with Cassano having a large impact on proceedings throughout the match.

The pressure eventually paid off as Il Talentino rounded off his good performance with a goal. He dribbled around two defenders before placing the ball in the far corner with a fantastic finish that drew plenty of applause from the crowd, making the score 2-0 to Sampdoria.

The game finished that way, and Samp fans will be happy to see their team playing effective football as they did during the second half of last season. Mazzarri's side take on Inter at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in the opening round of Serie A next weekend.
