Udinese Calcio up the ante with Nikola Vujadinović
Udinese's official website announced today that defender Nikola Vujadinović has joined the club from CSKA Sofia
The Friuli club has been in the market for a quality defender to bolster the back line, with the young Serbian prospect fitting the role well. Despite being offered a long term contract from his previous club, the player has decided to make the move to Serie A.
The Serbian Under 21 international signed a five year deal with the Bianconeri, who shelled out one million euros to conclude the transfer with the Bulgarian club.
Udinese General Director Pietro Leonardi showed his content following the conclusion of the deal when he said, “Vujadinović will integrate well into the defence, which can now consider itself complete and more competitive with all the games we will play this season in mind.”
Udinese are involved in the UEFA Cup and will want to have a strong season, perhaps improving upon their seventh place finish in last years championship, while progressing as far as possible in Europe.
No contract details have been revealed for the 22-year-old former FK Zeta centre-back, who holds a Bulgarian passport but represented Montenegro at Under-21 level.
Udinese general manager Pietro Leonardi said: "Vujadinović is the right player to complete our defensive line, given the various competitions the squad will be in this season." Having finished seventh in Serie A last term, Udinese have already recruited Antonio Langella and Fernando Tissone from Atalanta BC, Giovanni Pasquale from AS Livorno Calcio, Alexis Alejandro Sánchez from CA River Plate, and Dušan Basta from FK Crvena Zvezda. They kick off their UEFA Cup campaign in the first round.
