China 0-3 Brazil

Brazil clinched a 3-0 victory over China at Qinghuangdao Olympic Stadium on Wednesday evening - with Thiago Neves netting twice in the second half.

The Olympic gold medal may have eluded five-time world champions Brazil.

But at the Beijing Olympics, coach Carlos Dunga and his charges showed why they should be considered as serious contenders for the gold, as they crushed China 3-0 to finish unbeaten in Group C.

China were handed the impossible task of beating the Brazilians, after they lost 2-0 to Belgium on Sunday.

But with Dunga fielding a full strength side, any hope the host nation had of progressing to the Olympic men's football quarter-finals was soon dashed.

Diego fired his side into the lead on 18 minutes and Thiago Neves scored twice in the 69th and 73th minutes to seal a comfortable win for Brazil.

China only managed to clinch one point from three matches in their Olympics campaign - as the fans and media expressed their disappointment with the performances of the players.

The Chinese were without their inspirational skipper Zheng Zhi, who was sent off in their last match against Belgium.

And even though China attempted to take the game to Brazil, the gulf in class was evident as Ronaldinho and his team-mates played slick football to clinch the win.

The AC Milan playmaker showed why he is not past his best as he threaded a pinpoint pass to Diego which tore the Chinese defence apart. The Werder Bremen midfielder received the ball from the left in the penalty box, rounded goalkeeper Liu Zhenli and stabbed the ball into an empty goal.

China had sporadic opportunities to equalise - with midfielder Jiang Ning particularly influential down the left. The off-colour Dong Fangzhuo however, failed to find the net.

Brazil came out firing on all cylinders in the second half. But it was Thiago Neves who stole show from Ronaldinho.

Ten minutes after the restart, he unleashed a rocket that grazed the post. The 23-year-old however, signalled his arrival in the Olympics by scoring a curling free-kick that gave the Chinese custodian no chance at all.

The Fluminense player clinched his brace on 79 minutes when his powerful drive from the edge of the box - putting the match beyond the reach of China and ending their hopes of making it to the last eight.

This is another great win for Brazil against the host nation China. Neves managed to scored two within five minutes too.
