Chelsea star to be get nearly £151,000 a week
Frank Lampard's new Chelsea contract has officially made him the Premier League's highest-paid player, according to reports in the press.
Lampard penned a bumper five-year deal yesterday evening which will likely see him spend the rest of his career at Stamford Bridge.
The Sun claims the 30-year-old will now pocket some £151,000-per-week, thus making him the top-earning footballer in England.
The exact figure is disputed, however, as The Guardian reports that the England midfielder's weekly wages are closer to £140,000.
Regardless, the former West Ham man's new contract - which, if The Sun's numbers are correct, entitles him to more than £39million in total - has seen him supersede his team-mate and captain John Terry, who currently earns £131,000-per-week.
Now that Lampard's future is sorted out, manager Luiz Felipe Scolari must consider whether or not he can fit him in the starting line-up for the Blues' Premier League opener against Portsmouth this weekend.
