friendly : Manchester United 0-0 Juventus Old Lady's Old Trafford Visit Ends Goal-less

Manchester United 0-0 Juventus Neither Manchester United nor Juventus could find a winner in a tight friendly bout.

The Double-winners from last season will be eager to begin their defence of these crowns in the best possible start, but injuries to key players leaves Sir Alex Ferguson with selection problems. A visit by Juventus, who beat Red Devils rivals Arsenal on Saturday, provided a stern test in how a makeshift Manchester United side would cope.

The first half was a bit of a non-event. The only newsworthy note was when Grygera appeared to foul Lee Martin in the penalty area, but claims for a spot kick were instantly refuted.

Mauro Cameronesi, who impressed in the Emirates Cup, played good passes for Juve throughout the first half, but particularly troubled United with a through ball to dangerman Del Piero, only for the Italian to be blocked at the last minute by a determined Patrice Evra.

The second half began much brighter than the first and Paul Scholes played Tevez a weighted ball but the forward could only strike across goal.

Rafael Da Silva continued with his good start to pre-season with some accurate crossing, coming from the full back position to link up the attack. During the second half he was involved in many of the Mancunian attacks, and this will give Ferguson something to think about, should Gary Neville be sidelined like he was last season.

Juventus failed to trouble Dutchman Van Der Sar apart from former Liverpool enforcer, Momo Sissoko's strike on the 66th minute. Edwin kept his concentration though and never let the shot trouble him.
