Janmaat Signs For Heerenveen

Talented defender Daryl Janmaat has signed a deal with Heerenveen after ADO Den Haag and the Frisians agreed an undisclosed fee for the player...

The young, right-footed full back is regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation and it's thus considered something of a coup for Heerenveen that he's signed a four-year deal. The northerners were desperate to sign a new right back after selling Gianni Zuiverloon to West Bromwich Albion.

Janmaat is a product of the Feyenoord youth academy, but made his professional debut for newly promoted ADO Den Haag. Overall the nineteen year old made 25 appearances for Den Haag, scoring two goals.

The youngster had a contract with the Residentieclub until 2010 and they were reluctant to let him go. However, Janmaat expressed his desire to move on and the Den Haag team decided to cash in on the player.

Janmaat is the seventh new signing for Heerenveen following Tarik Elyounoussi, Bonaventure Kalou, Milan Kopic, Goran Popov, Viktor Elm and Pedro Beda. However, they lost and Gianni Zuiverloon to W.B.A. and Miralem Sulejmani to Ajax.
