Atlético Madrid starlet Sergio Agüero is the latest in a long line of influential figures of who are backing Lionel Messi’s dream to go to the Olympic games.

Real Madrid forward Javier Saviola revealed yesterday that he had sent a direct message to the directors of his former club Barcelona, pleading with the Catalans to allow young Messi to fulfil his wish to go to the Olympics in Beijing.

Today, another of Messi’s compatriot – and possible strike partner in Beijing – Sergio Agüero has given his thoughts on the complicated situation.

“I imagine that Leo must be very nervous because he can’t do anything. It is a situation that the AFA and the club must resolve” El Kun told Argentine TV network TyC Sport in Japan.

“He would like to be here with us. And we also want him to join the team as soon as possible.

“I know him well and I know that he must be uncomfortable with the situation, but that is logical,” he added.
